for those of you who know me personally, you know I can do some talking, just as I can do some typing.
I've been debating on whether to even mention this but I feel like I need some prayer for this matter. I've struggling with for a little while now.
Last year Carson went to kindergarten at Calvary and what a year. A year I will NEVER forget, so many memories. And to be honest, the plan was for him to go on to first grade this year until around March. At his parent/teacher conference, his teacher asked me if I had considered holding him back, which I had not although I knew he was one of the younger kids in his class. After more talking, praying, talking with other moms of boys, other moms who had made the same decision we decided it wasn't a bad idea. Somewhere in that decision, the thought of homeshcooling came up, which I had never thought of or considered before. This was so hard for me. I wanted to know without a doubt I was doing the right thing. God is amazing and I had to pray myself up for so many things. Example, calling the school to tell them he would not be coming, picking the right cirriculum for us, having to hear everyone else's opinion, etc. God showed me so many times over and over at the beginning I had done the right thing, in books we read, in topics we studied, in conversations we had, in fun things we did, it was obvious. And so, MY plan was, I'll do this, this one year and then send him to public school. We'll, low and behold the year is coming to an end and what in the world is going on???? I have NO idea what direction we are suppose to take for next year. I'm praying that God will be so obvious to me again, that I will completely trust him in this, and that my eyes will be open to every sign he sends me to make the right decision. I want my children to learn as much as they can and to be in the right place. And I can honestly say, often times I doubt myself that I can be the "teacher" they need to teach them those things, and if I can, how long can I? So, without a clear answer, I would like to ask, especially you homeschool mom's, that when you are praying for specific things that you would pray for me, that we will be able to make this decision, knowing it's God's plan for our family (and not just MY plan), whether it be to continue homeschooling or go on to public school.

Hi Shawna. I will definitely be praying for you and Vince as you follow the Lord's leading about whether to continue homeschooling. I will pray that you will both clearly know what is best for Carson and for your family. If you ever need to talk through anything while you are making your decision, give me a call or just come over. See you Sunday. :)
Vince and Shawna we will be in prayer for you both in the process of decision making between homeschool and secular school. The scales must be weighted, but our opinion after having our son in the local school system was that those first few years are precious and are yours, not the governments. What is to be taught in grades 1-6 can be done in half the time. The Christian view can be taught. Josh could not mention God in the Tupelo School System(it had become so diversity sensitive by 5th grade). God spoke to the Ancient Israelites about not mixing with people of their new land they entered or they would become just like those idolatrous people. Our children are a treasure we rear up until it is time for them to go out and shine in the world. We could go on a long diatribe about the secular school system in comparison to homeschooling, but will leave that.
Prayers for your family! God Bless(edenjerusalem.blogspot.com) Kathey and David
Any decision regarding your children is tough. I see what a great job you've done with Carson and Emilia too. I will be praying that you find the answers you need. God is faithful and He will guide you in the right direction just as He did before. Love, Kim
Thanks so much! Please excuse all my typos, sometimes I type in the middle of the night while I'm at work!!! And SLEEPY!
Kathy, please send me your email address. I had no idea Josh went to public school too. I have lots of questions, if you have time to answer!
